About Me:

I am somewhere between a library nerd and just a nerd, but a self-assured and highly capable nerd! I have worked in libraries for 17 years now and have no plans of turning back. I started out as a student assistant at The Evergreen State College (yep, I was a borderline hippie but I dressed too nice to become a full-fledged, badge-carrying hippie) where I did a huge range of jobs as I moved through all the various departments and special jobs within the library. That carried me through my 4 years of undergrad schooling and helped me decide to pursue a career in libraries. I worked for a few years at the Boeing Technical Library (funny, they never gave me a plane...but what the heck.....they footed the bill for me to have my son) and then took a few years off to start my family before heading back into the library world at the University of Washington Bothell campus. I decided to see if I was smart enough to get into grad school and (to my surprise) was accepted into the iSchool at UW right about the time I moved to the UW Health Sciences Library. After 3 years of grad school (I worked full-time so it took me a little longer....but they paid for it all so I'm not complaining), I was awarded my MLIS in December 2007. That brings me to Lake Washington Technical College as the new faculty Librarian. I am immensly satisfied here and really enjoying the challenges of reaching out to the students and faculty. It just goes to show you that hard work does pay off sometimes and now the next stage of hard work begins.
